Downwind Controls

spi_sheetSheet – the main control of the sail, and

used to keep the luff of the sail “on edge” – the luff just curling.

spi_guyGuy – controls the position of the pole,

best thought of as the angle it makes to the Apparent Wind Direction.

Pole Heel Lift – the track slider which controls the inboard end of the pole,

keeping the pole level after changes to the outboard end (not on all boats)

dw-tweakerTweakers – control lines on the sheet to change the sheet angle.

Mainly used to control the spinnaker in strong winds.

dw_topliftTopping Lift – controls the pole height at the outboard end,

vertically moving the “tack” of the spinnaker.
